There is a bambu lab video on YouTube on chamber heater replacement. Simply accessing the back of the chamber heater is I think 3 screws. There is already side panel insulation visible in the video. BUT, there is a huge gap in the center of the panel where the warp happens. I can only imagine they found having insulation behind the heater caused smoke, smells, or delamination of the foam. Soooo, I’m not sure there is a mitigation. The heater gets hot, and the panel plastic isn’t rated for a high enough temperature. So it’s a nothing burger without a significant redesign. The panel may bulge. Lame, but what can you do. It’s possible a large sheet metal plate added may spread the heat out away from the heater. Anyway, question answered.
I haven’t seen this (caveat - I’m only printing with PLA and PETG).
There is no active chamber heating enabled with those filaments in their default profiles (and no reason for it).
I’m tempted to see if I can put an additional thin layer of mica to see if it helps things.
Excellent idea if there is a good way to stick it in place. On a Maclaren they would use gold foil ![]()

Yeah I saw it, like I said, there’s still no photo from the proper angle (top or side) with a square/reference to show the actual deflection. There’s also no description, no info on whether the printer was close to another printer, what the ambient temperature was, what temperature they were printing at, or how long the print was running… basically nothing.
So far, my longest print job with the chamber at 50°C was 9 hours, and my wall didn’t bulge. It would be really interesting to learn more and figure out what caused it.
Yea. I printed a PA6 part for 12 hours, chamber temp of 60c, and I didn’t get any deformation. My basement temp is never over 18c, so maybe that helps?

I like Bambu Lab products. However, seeing the wording “generally return” and “to some extent” doesn’t particularly instill confidence. Maybe my expectations are too high for products.
I think having a housing that, at least, doesnt defom under normal operation for a 600$ and above machine should come as a “default“ but certain members in this forum will jump right in to tell me how everything is great and that I should be happy that bambu made such a “cost effective solution”

No, no, no — we clearly want to see the issue first, and then we can unleash the fury of unhappiness. Like I said, I have completed quite a few ABS prints at 50°C, and I do not see the problem. Room temperature was 21°C. Did they accidentally make some panels with PLA? Considering a lot of people got the X2D because of the heated chamber feature, I’m surprised not everyone is affected. That’s all — no need for name-calling.
Do we have volunteers to run the X2D at 65°C with the bed at 120°C for 24 hours? Make sure you have an extinguisher handy, and don’t melt the Earth core… ![]()

And if “problem” equals a fire for you, then of course its all great. Only that its a damn eyesore which you can’t unsee once you see it.
This melting and bubbling of the side panel is simply the effect of not allowing enough “road testing” and subsequent product redesign before product release.
I understand that Bambu is claiming it is normal and downplaying the impact, which appears more cosmetic than anything else. Nevertheless, it doesn’t help if the market perceives this as a quality problem.
Yeah, that may answer as to why the panel warps, but here another thing:
- My P1S has metal side panels
- My X1C has metal side panels
- my P2S has metal side panels
None of these printers have a heated print chamber, but the one printer in this discussion that DOES permit a heated chamber does have plastic panels that will warp, look ugly, and possibly in the future will cause worse problems.
Why plastic panels? because it’s cheaper. That is the only reason.
I’m thinking that in the future, we will see metal side panels for sell in the Bambu store, or maybe we won’t be able to have a heated chamber, at least, one that heats to the point that it causes warpage…
Does the side panels on the 3 printers above fit the X2D? probably not…
The only Bambu printer with metal side panels is the X1 series.
The P1S/P2S/X2D/H2D/H2C/H2S have plastic side panels.

Yeah. you are correct, I am wrong, only the X1C is metal. However, since that printer does not have chamber heating, why metal sides, whereas the X2d does have chamber heating and plastic sides?
