Who leaves silica in the ams while drying pla/petg (not so much high temp) does it turn back orange whilst its there ? do you recommend its use in that way or do you simply remove the pods, which would be considered best practice ?
Regular-ish drying at 55C is enough to get water out of silica beads and you should see them turn colors back to dry. Its better hotter, and hotter will leave them “more dried out,” but it’ll function.
Drying dessicant releases steam so make sure your dryer is able to exchange outside air. Prop it open with a toothpick or something if needed.

I’ve been leaving mine in the AMS while drying and they have been regenerating. I don’t know if there’s a lifespan of desiccant for the amount of heat cycles, so don’t know if that’ll be an issue in the future or not.
