Skip purge tower

Wjen running a multi object multi color print there are cases where one of the many are not printable as they might fall over. Thankfully i can skip these objects, so that i do t waste filament and or ruin the rest of the batch. I just had a 10 hour print where half way through the tower fell. No idea why…

There is no resolution. It would be great if i could “skip” the purge tower in such cases.

This happened to me a while back too - I let the print carry on. It created a bit of a mess, but the print came out surprisingly well after a bit of cleanup.

I agree that being able to skip the prime tower would be a useful thing to be able to do, especially in the case where skipped objects result in colour changes no longer being required.

A couple of additional thoughts are:

  1. Having at least one flush-into object is a guess a bit of a contingency in the case where the prime tower falls over - as it may collect most of the mess -rather than it affecting the real objects.
  2. I have experimented with post processing the gcode to strip out the prime tower when doing optimised zero waste multi colour prints with lots of flush-into objects.
It worked ok and effectively used the flush-into objects as replacement prime towers. I guess a side benefit of this approach is that the replacement prime towers are able to be skipped if any of them fail.
