Slicer / H2D not obeying layer temps

This is a strange issue I haven’t seen before today - I set up a profile for my Sunlu Matte PETG HF - with the nozzle initial layer temp of 210 and other layer temps to 240.

When I started the print - it did the nozzle initial layer at 255c - I had to manually lower it to 210. Then when it got past the 1st layer, it went back to 255c again - and I had to lower it again down to 240c.

So at first I thought I made some sort of mistake, but I checked my profile for the filament in my project and it looks like I have it set properly:

For some reason though - it is doing the first layer and all layers after that at 255C.

Am I missing something? A setting?

H2D is on latest production/stable firmware and BS is 2.1.1.52 on MacOS.

Dude you are trying to set the bed to 210c are you trying to melt your print?

The bed is set to 80C, nozzle is set to 210 first layer, 240 other layers.

Do please look at the screen shot more closely.

So I just re-sliced it, and this time the initial layer temp is 245C, even though it’s clearly set to 210 in the filament profile.

I opened the gcode and sure enough:

; nozzle_temperature = 245
; nozzle_temperature_initial_layer = 245
; nozzle_temperature_range_high = 270
; nozzle_temperature_range_low = 210

M109 S245

This is frustrating.

I very clearly have the filament profile set to 210 and 240 in the one and only filament profile on this project in Bambu Studio.

I fired up BS 2.1.0.59 and the behavior is the same.

; nozzle_temperature = 245
; nozzle_temperature_initial_layer = 245
; nozzle_temperature_range_high = 270
; nozzle_temperature_range_low = 210

I must be missing an override or setting somewhere.

Looks like perhaps the firmware is overriding my minimums due to the filament being set to PETG.

Frustrating.

Actually it looks like I need to set the filament profile up from scratch and change the Vendor [it won’t let me modify the copy I made from the Bambu PETG-HF Profile] - perhaps the FW is hard-set with a lower limit for Bambu PETG specifically.

About to test.

That appears to be the issue. PETG with the vendor Bambu Lab has a FW lower limit set of 245C.

I had to create a brand new filament profile and specify a different vendor to get it to honor my temperature settings below 245C.

It seems that when I thought it was 255C, it was 245C [that or I typo’d it and ran with it]. Beyond that the lower limit is 230C not 210C.

At any rate this Sunlu Matte PETG HF is now printing like a dream and looks great.

Either way - if anyone else runs into this - make sure you have created a brand new from scratch print profile for the filament.

Ok, so Bambu Studio crashed - and now no matter what I set the first layer or other layer nozzle temps to - they are stuck on 230 and 245 now.

Not even sure how to report this bug, but it’s frustrating because the slicer is not setting the temperatures based upon the filament profile like it’s supposed to.

Are you are using high flow hot ends? If yes then you need to change where it says “Direct Drive Standard” to “Direct Drive High Flow”. You adjust all Standard and High Flow setting separately, including the temps.

I made a whole new profile from scratch with all of the right settings. Sliced a print and sent it to the printer.

Then I decided to adjust temps a bit - modified filament profile, saved it, re-sliced, sent to printer - and the temperature settings wouldn’t change.

Additionally it wouldn’t let me delete any of my custom user profiles. When I killed BS and opened it back up it would then let me remove them.

Very frustrating.

I believe somewhere around here Bambu should wake up and realise that while they printers are amazing, their…slicer making skills are lacking at best, and try to make up with orca. Then we can actually use H2D as intended to be used…

I am using HF 0.4 nozzles.

That said - I set all of the settings on the profiles identical between the Direct Drive and Direct Drive High Flow tabs just to make sure that wasn’t the issue. I just happened to snap a screen shot when it was on the non-high flow tab.

I ended up totally killing Bambu Studio and uninstalling it and re-initializing everything and it looks to be behaving as I would expect.

I’m not sure what caused it to go wonky - but I did have a crash so bad earlier tonight that my mouse and keyboard stopped responding - I had to press and hold the power button to shut down the system and when I opened BS back up after that - a LOT of my settings were ‘lost’ [even ones I had ‘saved’].

So maybe it was just a fluke!
