I just swapped from a role of PLA Basic to PLA Metal, and printed something without changing the material in the slicer.
The print turned out fine, except some small varience in the top surface, but couldnt really notice anything differnt.
That made me wonder, does the slicer slice models differently based on selection? Or is it simply a change in parameters for extrusion / heat / etc.?
“Bambu PLA Metal is a metallic textured filament designed to enhance the aesthetic of your prints. It is designed to mimic the surface texture of metal, but it does not contain actual metal fillers.” PLA Metal Description on Bambu Labs Store.
PLA Basic is PLA Metal with a little bit of a different blend to create the shiny metallic. No actual Metal fillings.
Im aware of that, though my question spawned from swapping between PLA types, I was more so asking in general.
For example, PLA vs PETG vs TPU.
Does the slicer factor the way these materials work in when slicing?
Or does it simply adjust the speed / heat / etc of the printer in some aspects for different materials.
