I got today a strange chat message from a user account:
Is this official? Is there anything about it in announcements or anywhere else?
I can’t find any duplicate print profiles on my profile…
Did anybody else get this message?
What is confusing you about the message? Why would there be an announcement about a long standing MW policy?
As written: Its a chat message, no system notification.
There is no reference to a model.
I don’t have any duplicated uploads…
Initially thought this was fake, but it seems to be a genuine MakerWorld account (as indicated by the green checkmark). The grammatical errors and the fact that it was sent via chat rather than system notifications threw me off, feels like a very odd way to do something supposedly official…
This is an odd one for many reasons. First, as you said, it’s weird that it came as a chat message and not an actual notification. Second, also as you stated, why wouldn’t it list specific models? I looked at your models and most of them only have 1 print profile. Third, do they ever actually warn people before they remove things?
Here’s a theory, what if this was a normal account with a check mark and someone hacked it and changed the username, screenname and profile pic? When I say hacked I just mean got lucky trying credentials they found in one of those huge database leaks, from people who use the same logins on multiple sites. But if this was the case what is their goal? Just to inconvenience people?
Let me see if I can get verification this is a real account.

Meanwhile, I reported the user via user profile in advance of my ticket; I opened one when I noticed the message.
Just as you said, the motivation from a hacked account would be the strangest thing.
I think it’s real. I went through and followed a whole bunch of MW accounts a while back, and I’m following this one so I’d guess it’s at least a few months old. Not sure why it exists though, they have system notifications for a reason. Plus verified accounts usually have more followers & I think verified account name changes have to be approved? (but don’t quote me on that)
100% think it’s a scam, i got one a few weeks ago.

If you hover your mouse over that link (but not click on it) do you get a little popup with the link your computer would go to? They don’t have to be the same. Are they the same?
The link itself looks like it may be good but since it’s hyperlinked, what you get when you click on it could be the scam part if it is a scam.

I am not seeing the scam then. Curious. Maybe legit like Zammer’s evidence points to.
I looked at your models and the only one I see that could be a duplicate by their definition is the rounded square zip tie mount. Maybe the array and single unit ones are what they spotted?
Other than that though, I’m not spotting anything that looks infringing but maybe I’m not up on what they are getting at.

Having a profile for 1 and a profile for 4 is redundant
Same on here for the 2 PLA ones
The 2 larger bed profiles are redundant as both of them already support both the H2D and H2D Pro
The zip tie one you already pointed out
The multiple profiles for this are redundant as you can just have both versions on different plates within the same profile if nothing else has changed
H2D profile here also pretty redundant as you can just use the 3 plate version on the H series anyway and if you wanted to combine the plate contents you would just do it yourself in the slicer
All of these profiles could have just been single plates as all this does is cause people to have to download multiple profiles in order to get multiple sizes, which is likely what bambu wants to clamp down on in part
That was as far as i could be bothered to look personally but i can see why bambu might message you about it

Thanks for highlighting some interesting examples and for the time you spent on this. I wouldn’t call them wrong, but they all refer to limited functionalities for printing via app and therefore user convenience. Many people just print my profiles via the app.
As far as I know, you can’t reorganize any print via the app.
Absolutely valid for me is the example with the washers. I remember it is possible to select dedicated print plates there.
But also for these washers, there is a clear purpose on it to have multiple profiles available for user printing via app:
