I start this with saying that the Bambu team are trying to support, however, with 3 days+ between replies it’s not ideal.
Faults I have;
Frequent “System state abnormal, restore to factory settings” - which has been done 3+ times, but often goes away with a restart.
System can’t read in nozzle info like it’s supposed to, you press to do it and it does nothing at all other than show the spinning ‘thinking’ graphic
Can’t upload logs remotely / online into a ticket, just says upload failed - printer is connected to the internet, on the same wifi as the phone etc…
Every USB device entered into the printer (to manually capture the logs) says it doesn’t have enough space in it. Tried with a freshly formatted 256gb Samsung TS and I even formatted a 128gb flash drive in the printer and still got it.
Bambu tell me that the logs are incomplete - which is probably an issue with the fact that I can’t upload them online and it thinks the USB drive is low on space.
Got the printer in April this year, so I’m past the UK statutory replacement window and Bambu are already telling me about their warranty period…
I’m “fine” to repair it with replacement parts, BUT, only if Bambu know what parts NEED replacing, at the moment, they’ve offered a new USB board, but that feels like a proper finger in the air job.
Open to any thoughts or suggestions! - I know I’m entitled to repair via the UK consumer rights laws, but I’m not going to start swapping out random parts, given it takes 3 days to reply, up to a week to get parts via Yun express when it might not be even related to the issue.
you can try usb stick that is 32GB or less. I can be wrong but as far as i know those printers mostly use fat32 partition format for external storage (sd card, usb stick, etc…) and more than 32GB not work well with this. maybe this will help to dump the logs… just be patient, it dumps a whole lot of data - it will take some time (like 5-10 mins)
I’ll give that a go, but according to the docs it can take any size under 2tb
It does “complete” the export btw, but the files are tiny, possibly because I’ve had to wipe the system several tomes over, but it has been failing since then
That can’t be right, I have a 512 GB USB stick connected to my H2D and it works perfectly. You should only format it via the printer and not on the PC.
yes, but nobody knows what happening there… why printer is unable to send logs thru cloud… maybe problem with WiFi, or firmware itself… thats why i sugested small capacity - bc it usually just works, even if problem is quite severe…
hmmm… please check the wiring in the toolhead. Any lose connector is suspected to generate the problem… they should be nice and tight… i have built one printer from scratch and had similar problem when temperature sensor was broken. mine error was more specific bc board i used was not so closed source, but also stated as critical… althro you have also problem with exporting logs so it could be simply two problems… or some of the tasks just hangs - printer is linux based and multithreaded
This issue raises an important question in relation to warranty claims:
We are talking about expensive machines where I believe a consumer has every right to expect the printer to perform to advertised specifications.
If a printer has a long term serious issue that surfaced during the warranty period but not resolved by BL surely the printer should be repaired free of charge until it is fully functional?
Camera looks OK, but literally nothing happens when you start the option, other than a spinning icon to say it’s thinking, so it’s not like it can’t read them, it doesn’t even try.
I suspect you are right, there’s something causing the ancillary systems to fail, so probably the main / a main controller, rather than the camera or USB one
There has to be a point where I believe you need to draw the line once reasonable steps have ben taken to resolve the various printer issues using BL supplied parts and advice.
I would say after 3 or 4 serious attempts if the printer is not fully functional with no clear diagnosis, it is time to request a replacement.
From what I have see on a recent P2S dead printer thread and related H2 posts, BL does eventually appear to offer a replacement printer - which is the right thing to do.
Just the thoughts of someone who is close to purchasing a H2D but with lingering concerns re product quality control.
I hope your disappointing experience gets resolved soon!
Agree, I think at this point it would actually be useful from a diagnostic point of view for them to have the machine back to figure out what on earth has gone wrong.
Searching the web and Reddit doesn’t turn up anyone with the same issue, so this might actually be interesting to them.
Other big thing is the time is takes to get a reply, 3 days minimum pretty much, which just drags this out.
The printer still does work for it’s core function most of the time, so I can use it still at least!
Just to update this, we’ve agreed to an AP board replacement (also shipping the USB one)
the Application Processor Main Board, which is the power board that processes information interaction in the printer. It provides an independent operating environment for the printer and supports all system functions required by printer applications
It sounds fairly central, so I think that’s worth a shot. Once it’s arrived and I’ve got it fitted, I’ll update with the results.
It looks very much like the new AP board has fixed the issue! It was also pretty simple to fit, which compared to doing something like the hotend fan on the H2D was a welcome relief.
New board in, it now reads the nozzle info again and no USB errors!
Now back in action! - Activated around 30 mins ago, previously failing functions are now working, now to monitor for a few days around the state abnormal errors that kicked this off.
Hopefully this thread helps if anyone else gets the same issues
Pretty sure your H2D is closly related to my H2S. Not the same problems but you fix one and another one shows its head.
No drama for any of my fleet of P1S’s (just usual bits and bobs) but the H2S has been nothing but trouble straight out the box.
I know most people are loving them out of the box but looks like we got bad ones. Glad it sounds like yours is sorted now.
I’ll wait another 3 days for an answer, hopefully this support agent actually reads what I’ve put rather than giving a generic answer to someone they thinks never 3d printed before. (Today I’m being instructed about how to load filament properly)
Had my H2D since April, other than the hotend fan failing (which is an unofficial known issue when printing at high temps) this was the second real issue I’ve had.
Support once they engage and stop sending copy/paste replies have been helpful, it’s just waiting days for a reply isn’t great.
