And Norway has FREE healthcare and FREE schooling through post-doc.
Democracy is a complete failure if the voters are so easily swayed by an orange liar. Look at the person sitting closest to you. Odds are that one of the two of you voted for this.

If @krellboy was being serious with this statement, well, there you have it. Another fool who led us down this absurd road.

And what do you think will happen when the US stops outsourcing its manufacturing? All that pollution is coming home baby.

I am firmly ready to lead a resistance.

  • The Declaration of Independence states that the people have the right to overthrow a government that is destructive or abuses its power. (teetering aren’t we?)
    How far is too far?

  • The Constitution protects the rights of the people and prevents tyranny by establishing a system of checks and balances. (currently being ignored by quite a few)
I guess some are ok with some rights being taken away as long as it’s not THIER rights.

And WE pay the tariff. Don’t kid yourself. WE pay it, and often a little more than what it is. Companies aren’t charities. This consumer driven capitalistic society drives for profit. That profit comes from you.

Don’t fall for it. What was promised couldn’t be, won’t be. We will be paying more for less while our data is stolen and the rights of our friends and neighbors will be trampled. Wait until SS is hindered (out of the country those payments are already affected).

I didn’t vote for this, I didn’t vote for Musk. I sure as hell don’t want them scraping data.

If you don’t agree, cool. Stay out of my data.

Those are some big words, and risky ones. But luckily in the free world we can stand up for what we believe in without fear. Even storming the capitol is acceptable as it turns out. From an outside perspective I wouldn’t say you are teetering, the momentum is already there, the seesaw just isn’t fully at the other side yet. Doesn’t mean it is stoppable and won’t tip. But still, your peers knew what they were voting for, and that sadly is how a democracy works. Personally I still stand fully behind the democratic system (what is the alternative?) even though I know too many people are short sighted, egoistic or just too plain stupid. But that is how it works.

That is also a choice. Without it they would pay less tax and the richest would become richer. You could say without it rich people are rewarded for working hard, instead of paying for some poor kid’s education

Tariffs are paid by the end consumer completely in the country importing the product. EG. If you buy steel from Canada with a 25% tariff, anything being made with that steel will now cost 25% more (cars, cans, roofing…). 3D printers are mostly made in China, so the tariffs would only raise the price by about 10%, depending on the origins of the parts. Tariffs are basically a end user sales tax for products being imported.

Actually less than ‘most’ and if the rise was due to tariffs being imposed then the person that proclaimed the tarrif is therefore then one who has raised the prices.
Not that it would help the local industry as they’ll not produce something that is very much cheaper, anything domestic will be pitched at the same price point becuae that’s the prevailing price.
Just wait till the 25% on aluminium comes in and Canada decides not to sell the US oil and gas at well below market prices, the specialist steels ramp up and the US manufacturing base which closed their plants because foreign was cheaper pass these onto consumers.

Surely you jest!

Rush Limbaugh used to use absurdity to illustrate a point. In this case, let’s say that the tariff was 100%. BBL pays a 100% tariff at the border. Their profit would be near zero. So how do they say in business? YOU pay the tariff. That’s how. The only way the BBL gets spanked (and it’s not a small thing), people can no longer afford to buy their printers. Theoretically we would all start buying made-in-American printers. Have you seen one lately?

The fact that no one seems to have the power (or cares enough) to stop this is pretty shocking. A business man, with no position in our government, is allowed to access critical computer systems… with a small team of 20 year old “hackers”, who were already being watched by the FBI. The aviation authority, the treasury, etc etc. People who study history have always wondered how dictators got to the levels of power they achieved… Should we feel lucky that we get to see it happen in real time?

It’s better than pretending that we are actually doing something. Do something real or it doesn’t matter. Moving pollution to China does not fix the situation and it hurts the economy in the US.

Nope.

Nothing points to that expectation.

It was a mix of flooding all channels with misinfo and also alot of foreign misinfo(steve bannon calls it “flooding the zone”). One of the 1st thing Tulsi Gabbard did was gut the foreign influence task force for this exact reason. Our enemiies will always want the worst person to win. Alot of people dont have the time to research. And finally we have the last slice of people that wanted to burn it all down and are most likely closeted nazis. Crazy times.

Now we have 2 years of whatever he wants. Stuffed the supreme court and all cabinet picks with followers that wont stop him. Controls congress and the senate. Doesnt care about laws. If you break them fast enough, nobody can keep up. Hes still being investigated for stuff from 8 years ago. Figured he would learn from his 1st term. He did. He learned how to game it. The midterms will be a blue wave. Rinse n repeat. People only have a 4 year memory. Almost forgot, the supreme court basically made it so presidents cant be charged with breaking the law as a sitting president. All checks and balances have been systematically destroyed

Not just in the U.S. either. incumbents all over the world lost. Covid inflation backlash and people redirecting the anger from it. Because they dont understand anything about how the world works.

Just woke up, sorry if this is incoherent lol

@BillByrd Prusa is starting to manufacture in the U.S… Bambu could do the same to get around it.

Absolutely. Also better to accept responsibility for it. The US can be the number one polluter again!

They haven’t gone up in my area.

And this is what the democratic system has brought us. An orange idiot told people he’d lower the price of eggs, so they voted for him. Now he and his buddies are running roughshod and unchecked. Short of voiolence, I don’t see how he can be stopped. Even if he were to lose every single lawsuit, he has, thanks to the Supreme Court, absolute immunity. He can do whatever he wants.

We are fucked.

Nobody voted for Musk, but many voted for Trump who can do whatever he wants (how would you stop him?).

Many, many just didn’t vote and in my book they’re even worse than the trump voters.

Thanks, guys. I hope you’re happy now.

And the ironic thing is that all the Dems said it would be this way, yet they deliberately threw the election his way. WTF was that all about? Looks to me like you got what you wanted. So why whine about it? You’re probably wondering why I say you threw the election. You ran a guy who was somewhat demented on day one backed up by a blithering idiot. But that wasn’t bad enough. You pretended he was cognizant for three and a half years, threw him out, replaced him with someone totally unelectable. I don’t usually talk politics on the forum. But you asked for this one.

It is crazy that weekend at bernies was still able to do such a better job. I agree with that, for the sake of not arguing.. Im trying hard to be a good boy atm. I know alot about politics if you ever want to debate via pm, because I can kill all those arguments with charts, passed legislation and past job experience comparisons.

Edit: Looks like he signed 25% tariffs on aluminum and steel. Better buckle up.

Or simply cast your mind back to 2018, when he did exactly the same thing  It is just the opening salvo, he will back down through negotiation once the market realises he is serious about change.

True. Although im pretty sure last time we lost some of our steel industry because of the added cost to import raw materials. Tbis time, he seems to be doing most things just for show. And then rescinds it afterwards. Later he will tell his supporters that he “tried” but woke messed it up.

heres a good read from united steel workers

Definition of insanity.
