Spagetti in a specific place

Print is causing spaghetti at a specific section only.

  • Printer model used: P2S
  • Slicer settings: Standard slicer settings used. Tried making adding brim (inside/outside/both)
  • Filament: Basic Matte Black PLA (SunLu)
  • Washed the plate in hot water with mild detergent used to scrub the plate clean multiple times
  • Also used a washable glue to improve adhesion.
  • I notice the first string emerging from the nozzle at this section is not even touching the plate where the spaghetti is seen in the picture. All subsequent extrusions end up as spaghetti. It is only this section of the model where I am actively seeing spaghetti across 5 failed prints.

Go to the slicer preview and use the slider to show only the first layer, and then arrow up once to show the second layer. I expect you’ll see that area doesn’t get printed on the first layer, but does on the second. That’s a modeling issue if that section truly isn’t coplanar with the rest of the base, or else possibly you don’t have the model properly faced down onto the bed in the slicer.

If you can’t fix the model and there isn’t an issue with it’s base selection in the slicer, you can move the model sliiiightly downward so the face is just slightly “into” the build plate enough that the offending area is now also printed in the first layer - but you’re going to lose, effectively, one layer’s thickness off the overall part size.

Reviewed the fail video and identified that the second layer is where the disconnect with plate is happening. Sharing the images of first layer (orange) and second layer (pink) below. As you can see, the upper portion of the pink layer at the bottom of the arch (region of spaghetti) is literally in the air. I am unsure how I can extend the first layer or add a brim in this region.

Additionally, I followed your steps, but don’t know how get the model closer to plate such that the second layer touches the plate. I think its a weird model where the second layer is floating in the air.

Hey, theory confirmed!

In the “prepare” tab, click on the part so it’s selected (shows a white border), then hit M for “move” and decrease the Z value by a small amount - 0.3mm for starters and then re-slice. If you still have a floating section, decrease the Z further until it’s gone.
