Spaghetti and not sticking all of a sudden

Hello - I have a Bambu P1s w/ AM2 Pro - using standard PLA basic filament, Bambu Studio for the slicer. Everything should be default in the studio, have not made any changes to the printer outside of cleaning the plate - so everything is default from when printer was shipped to me, outside of firmware updates in the last year - same settings, nozzle, plate, etc.

Last week printer started to speghetti in the middle of a print. Discarded it, shut it off, came back in a week, tried a different print/different roll on the AMS, and started to print like the picture attached.

Thought it was something simple - got rid of this, tried to print the test duck 3mf from Maker’s World - test duck would not even stick to the plate. Filament looks like its coming out stringy, uneven and a little blobby, in addition to not sticking now.

Ive never changed nozzles since I bought it - so assuming its still the 0.4 nzzle, and I made sure the duck print was set to 0.4 and standard flow.

Any help on where to start looking/doing is appreciated.

A classic thing is an oily or dirty bed. Easy to do and check right after.

Thanks. Ive been cleaning the bed w isopropyl alcohol - is there another way/better way to clean the plate?

If your “squiggle2” picture came from a nozzle parked in a fixed position, just extruding via manual command, then I would address it as a partial nozzle clog - cold pull and/or needles. If it was from a moving extruder, as part of a print that was just airprinting, it looks normal.

The pink picture is harder to tell. If thats stuck to the bed still, then probably clog, if its detatched and airprinting then the plate really had no adhesion, that sorta shape and profile I would categorize as “good” for adhesion. If it all pulled up, then I’d analyze your cleaning procedure. The goal is to dissolve oils and contaminants, and flush them all away, so make sure you’re cleaning well. Hot water, Simple dish soap, Clean non-dish-use scrubber, clean drying towel.

Thanks. Squiggle2 was the test duck in yellow that flat out didnt stick to theplate, and that was just the filament that just was stuck to the end of the nozzle.

The pink one stuck, or started to stick (mostly) and then just squiggled.

The original time this started - I was printing a tall light box in black - it printed the walls about halfway up - then the spaghetti started.

Sounds like I have a partially clogged nozzle and a dirty plate then - can anyone direct me to a good web link on how to clean the nozzle? First time, so Im a bit of a neophyte at this.

The goal of “coldpull” is to melt a big puddle inside the nozzle, hopefully including whatevers clogging it. Let it solidify completely, then apply rapid heat and pulling force, so that the moment the “frozen puddles” walls contacting the nozzle melt, the whole thing gets yanked free. Like removing a gelatin from a mold by pouring hot water on the outside. :wink: I find it to be the best and most effective. You can try using needles too (likely came with the printer) to poke into the hot nozzle from below, if something really needs mechanical breakup.

Never use alcohol. It just dilutes and spreads around the grease.

Dish soap, warm water, clean nylon brush (ikea dish brushes are great). Dry with a piece of paper towel, not a cloth towel as fabric softener can transfer to your build plate.
