Standalone X1C + 4 AMS Setup

Wanted to share this setup I’ve had for a while, posted this on another thread and figured I’d share here.

I have this setup with minimal hardware (metal bearings & screws), using the BaBo stacking solution: [BaBo duo] AMS drawer stacker - Free 3D Print Model - MakerWorld

I printed this in PETG and it’s very solid, but not as solid as ASA or a -CF print, I prefer it like this anyways, helps when moving the table. The AMS’ slide in and out effortlessly, easy to add and remove spools, and saves on space for my setup.

It’s 4 AMS’ total, 2 stacked side by side, hanging (anchored) from the bottom of the wooden table top, the table itself moves with the printer and AMS’ together. I have to find a solution for the UPS, it didn’t fit in the middle of the AMS’, but it’s not necessary for the time being. I can move this table in and out of my office easily, especially if I know I’m going to print for a long time and don’t want to deal with the noise. The UPS also allows me to move the printer and AMS’ during printing, if needed.

Nice, clean setup.

I’d suggest putting your two bottom AMS units onto your AMS riser - there are solutions in maker world to provide the needed additional support.

This will noticeably speed up changes as those are some looooong runs right now.

It will also free up space for your UPS

Thanks, this is how I had it it before, but I need this table to be on the taller side, and having two AMS’ on the riser required me to get a step ladder to access, it became a bit of a hassle. I’m not tall, so the lower access is much easier on me. Great idea for others though.

I wonder if the ptfe paths are that much longer anyway. the tubes leave the AMS upwards. and the X1C has its inputs roughly at half the height. So a top mounted AMS has to do a 3/4 circle to the buffer. The two bottom AMS probably have longer paths but maybe not that much.
If you move the printer to the left, you could probably further reduce the length and the door opens to the side of the table instead of the middle. I think I would prefer that.

Not a bad idea, although if I did that I’d lose the whole right side of the table due to the HSW on the side of the printer, I’m not sure I’m willing to relocate that to a wall or anywhere else, all the tools I use for printing are on there and in the AMS riser. The larger table space on the left is nice to work on prints, whether removing prints from a plate or de-burring, etc.

I can tell the loading difference from the top-right AMS compared to the bottom-left AMS, but the furthest AMS’ have different types of filament in them, ABS and PETG, while the closest 2 have PLA. It’s been enough for my multi-color prints.

I’m super happy with this setup.
