If I have a spool with only a little filament left, can I start with the nearly depleted spool and finish a print with a second spool of the same material type and color? If so, what is required?
yes i do it all the time, if you click on “auto refill” in the ams area it will show if the spools are linked to take over when 1 runns out

If you have an AMS, and the two spools are the same (make, type and color), the AMS will automatically switch.

Just make sure that the spool with the lowest amount of filament is selected as the start spool. It seems to start with the left spool first unless you tell it to use a different spool.
