Stolen models from MW on FB market Trevor Fus

Check if your models are not there, as I have seen quite a few known models:

He claims he purchased the models on Etsy and says he was scammed, yet he has 42 five-star ratings on Facebook. Unfortunately, there is no clear option to report specific models on Facebook, which makes addressing this situation very difficult.

He removed one model after I inquired about it, and I initially thought he would remove the rest. Since that didn’t happen, I’m sharing this here so others can be aware, check the listings, and report them if possible. He also sells these models at shows, which is something we currently have no control over.

My Conversation with him:

Me:

Hi Trevor, do you have commercial license to sell those 3D models?

Trevor Fus:

Hello, I do carry commercial licences for prints that I sell or have written permissions from designers. I design or model a large quantity of my sales myself. These ornaments came from A designer on Etsy that allows for resale with IP credit should they sell.

Trevor Fus:

Since this was posted, I wasn’t aware this was even active we never sold any of these. I do have a line I’ve designed via Hueforge.

Trevor Fus:

Or were you asking if I offered licensing? I can’t for these as I don’t own the IP but I have started offering them for my own designs. If I am able to find the original seller I can put you in touch if you’d like? I’m surprised actually they didn’t sell on FB or Markets.

Me:

Sorry I’m a bit confused, why is it you’re asking? It sees a lot more inquisitive than I first thought

Because I am the designer of some of these models, you will need a commercial license from my Patreon if you would like to sell them. I can’t find you on my current member list, maybe you are under different name?

Trevor Fus:

No I most certainly didn’t join a patreon for these models. That’s why I wouldn’t be on there. I had no idea they were being sold anywhere else, I assumed the designer I paid was the designer of these! They offered a few other STLs for fidget items as well. I am so sorry if these are in fact your designs. All of these came from the same Etsy seller. May I have your Patreon? And to confirm some but not all are yours?

Me:

I never sold them on Etsy, so if you have a moment and can find seller it would be helpfull.

Yes of course! I’m just finishing up packing for a show I’ll take a look when I’m back at my computer. I am so sorry for this. I try to be so diligent and assumed Etsy is a pretty hard place to sell items that would be plagiarized.

You have some pretty amazing designs. I wish I would have found you first instead of whatever â– â– â– â–  I paid for stolen files.

I have a ton of my own designs and I have thought about uploading to makers world but I was worried about this exact situation Albeit I didn’t expect to be on the end that was offering someone else’s designs

I’m going to pull this ad, I’m not sure if I actually have the rights for the items that aren’t yours as well. I’ll look for the Etsy seller and shoot you a message when I find it

just look in your invoices, very easy if you really bought it, no need to browse just check what you bought.

I would believe that, but it doesn’t make it any better. On Etsy, there are bulk sales of fake licences for 3D models. People who don’t think about it actually buy them, thinking they are purchasing a commercial licence.

Nevertheless, the guy from Facebook is by no means innocent. Anyone who thinks they can get cheap licenses on Etsy is making a fundamental mistake.

I wanted to believe him, but he can’t produce sellers name, it should be super easy just by looking at his invoices.

I just went though this yesterday - someone found a Marketplace user selling printed copies of my design. I filed a report through Facebook Marketplace, and much to my surprise, all four of the listings were taken down within an hour. Just add this text to the end of the normal Facebook website address: /help/contact/copyrightform

You’ll need a link to the offending listings, and a link to your model on MakerWorld. You can do multiple offenders in 1 report which is nice. Oh, and you need to use a browser other than Safari (in case you’re on a Mac). Their form won’t submit from Safari.

Facebook reporting didn’t work. I guess if you take a few models and post them together as one product, you can cheat the system — sad and frustrating.

It is so easy to determine this chicken is mine; this is not some geometric blob, but a hand-drawn design with very distinctive motifs, but not to FB eye…
