Strange new bed levelling behaviour. (Machine gun nozzle tap)

My H2C started acting wierd during bed levelling. I am not sure if something is wrong or is it the latest firmware feature ?

Nozzle occassionally taps several times in rapid succession. I Owned multiple H2C’s since launch (and returned due to various defects) and none ever did that. Neither did this one.

I am having other Z axis issues, and took the Z belt off, and remounted it. Did I cause that somehow ?

Took the belt off second time and retrammed the bed, just to make sure everything is in order.

Seems the machine gun taps have gotten even more frequent …

Anyone else noticed that ?

It doesn’t like that spot. What happens if you flip the plate over?

it does this all over the plate, recorded just a small part … so not normal then. What to do.

I’ve seen both my H2D and H2C do that. It looks normal to me.

It first does 3 “normal” taps, the on the 4th spot it does the stutter, at about 5s. then a few normal ones and a few stuttrering ones.

Could you be more specific? What ‘other z axis issues’ are you having.

Did I understand correctly, you took the belt off to tram the bed? Why? What is your exact tramming procedure?

My first H2C had issues, it was unable to do nozzle offset calibration - I could only do single nozzle printing.

Trying to do bed calibrations gave me a lot of this behavior - many taps per spot on the bed, and eventually mapping failed.

I wound up sending that back on warranty and replacing it.

Thought it was the nuts/screws, asked Bambu for a new set. Before putting it in, I as the knocking started to intensify, I looked more closely into it and started to sound to me it was the Z motor. Got that as well.

Before replacing either, I decided to check for any backlash or slack in the belt/puley system. I also wanted to disengage the motor from the belt to see how it sounds on its own.

Motor seems fine, knocking nor resonance is not comming from it.

After taking belt off the motor it completly fell off. So I screwed the bed down to frame and put it back on the pulleys, put back the tension spring, tightened the tension system screw.

After this I started getting those quick sutter taps. Never seen those before.

I thought maybe I got one of the lead screrw nuts slightly out of phase so redid all that again making sure that as I put the belt on each of the screw pulleys, to pull the bad towards the bolttom and ensured all three are as bottomed out as possible. Bed was screwed down duiring this as well.

Then I checked bed level with gauge, was a tiny bit off in one corner (0.3mm) so I retrammed the bed.

After all this, the sutter tapping of points increased a lot. at least 50 % of the poitns are getting the stutter now. This is how it used to do bed levelling https://youtu.be/OMwSH6BLXsc Only slow rythmic taps.

I understand everything you said. Humour me; how did you tram it, did you do it the bambu way using bambu’s g-code? Did you do a complete bed levelling calibration afterwards? if you have a dial gauge I would recommend you use that instead of a printed shim.

Reason I ask is when my bed got out of tram, for some reason, the pre print bed leveling acted sometimes a bit weird. After I sorted it out it seemed to behave better.

The stutter tap started after first belt removal and reinstalling. I trammed the bed only after second go at the belt.

I do have a dial gauge and a printed mount for the toolhead for it.

Did not use the shim, just check 4 corners and made the tiny adjustment to the one or two that required it, did not do a full reset of the tram - screw down 4 corners and then start releasing - like babmu says.

Full bed level recal afterwards and a first layer test print, which went okay. Seen better but not complanming But it was that bed level recal where I noted the stutter taps. Those happen in pre-print bed level as well. Never had those before.

Reddit seems to say this is normal … is it ? Perhaps new firmware introduced it, but I am not convinced. Does yours do that ?
