I have several prints that require white letter on a black background. And since I want the surface to be textured I am printing the whole upside to get the texture of the build plate.
Problem: when printing the black areas the nozzle pulls little threads over the white letters when traversing to another area of the part. These are visible on the finished print.
How can I avoid this? Lower the nozzle temp? Any tips would be welcome.
Stringing can be caused by inadequate retraction and by too much moisture in the filament. Maybe other reasons too.
There is a setting to keep the print head over the printing color. I forget what it’s called but it’s something like distance to go out of its way to be able to do that. It has sort of worked for me but kind of a mixed bag on results.
Other bits are be sure to set color print order to print lighter colors first and darker colors last. That at least gets you clear areas on the first layer. Also, depending on how clean you keep the inside of your printer, canned air to blow away any bits can also stir up more bits and even make the problem worse.
Solution was to drop the temp by 10° and everything was good.
