Im new to 3d printing and wanted to print some large easter eggs but its failing to print the cone top part. i have the 0.6mm nozzle and ive tried printing in petg and pla plus (sunlu) both in spiral vase mode but these failed alot when getting to the over hang bit, i tried printing with the 0.6mm nozzle and bambu labs matte pla in white, with 2 walls and a 4% infill i was using 0.42mm layer height and had upped the line width to 0.8mm to make it nice and strong but to also print quicker, but this still failed when it got to the top. it looks as if the layers just stop sticking together and then it creates a mess. see the latest failure , with walls and infill.
im thinking it may be better to print it upside down but unsure if this will help
Overhang is your main issue here. Without support, you will keep this issue. So settings might get you a bit further, but reaching the center without issues is virtually impossible without support.
Second thing that is bothering you here is the elastic band effect. Sometimes a large overhang is possible when you have a protruding feature, but here you have nothing where the bead can lay against.
First advice here is that while you are experimenting, that you lower the part into the bed, so that only the top (issue) section is above. Saves a lot of time and filament.
But I strongly recommend to use support. Assuming the egg has to be hollow.
No, I would suggest infill. That basically supports the walls from the inside and is also rigidly connected. Support structures are intended to be removed and with an enclosed egg that’s not possible.
Personally, I’d go for a .4 nozzle, 2+ walls (depending on transluscency desired) and tree supports (also 2 walls due to the height) but that is just me.
Yes, Bambu recommends storage below 20% so anything above that must be considered high. However, that is probably not the real point here:
The AMS only indicates internal air relative moisture. As such, it only gives a reliable indication of current storage conditions. But filament moisture content is very different.
After an extended sea journey, moisture must be expected to have dissipated into the bag. So the only safe assumption for a new roll fresh from its bag is … that it is saturated. Only after self-drying do you know that the filament moisture is low.
So yes, I concur: Probably random seams with moist filament.
can you explain the scarf settings, i will be looking this up aswell but i always appreciate what people reccomend that are helping anyway.
Additionally we are lighting up the eggs using a 10w led underneath the egg to make the whole thing glow, the gyroid infill effect gives it a nice effect when lighting up this way.
after i have a few more like this i will then try printing it hollow with tree supports.
