The A1 has a nice feature where it shows a Reprint button on the “Printing Complete” page of the printer’s screen.
(Not my image.)
But sometimes I’ll go out to the shop to collect a completed print, have a senior moment and forget to press that button. I’ll get all the way back inside, out of my coat, and comfortable in my recliner, before I remember, so have to suit back up and go back to the shop.
Second issue is I have to use LAN mode so I don’t have access to the SD card or print history, and I don’t have the app which blocks access to so many things.
So it would be so convenient to have a reprint button in Studio. It wouldn’t need to send all the files again, just tell the printer to reprint the last file just as if I would have remembered to tap the button on the printer.
You can just go back to the Preview tab and select print again.
I believe the only way to do another print from Bambu Lab is send the files to the printer again, and the file isn’t going to be open in Bambu Lab the entire time it prints. Which would mean, load the file again, makes sure the settings haven’t been changed, slice the model again, send to printer again.
In LAN Only mode access to the files on the printer are blocked from the user. Print history is blocked from the user. The only gcode files, as far as I can tell, are stored on the printer. Even if the model has been saved as a project, it still has to be sliced and sent again.
I don’t see anyway to do a simple reprint of the file currently loaded in the printer when using LAN only mode.
And now that I have put more thought into this. The actual problem isn’t that a person can only do a reprint from the printer, when in LAN Only mode, it’s that the person is blocked from so many important files when in LAN Only mode.
I can’t possibly be the only person on the planet who’s printers are in a shop with limited internet access. Being blocked from access to things like print history, and files stored on the printer feels like Bambu Lab’s way of punishing people for not using their app.
The actual topic of this feature request should have been “Give every who uses Bambu Lab printers the exact same access and features.” We all paid the same price for Bambu Lab printers, we should all have the same user experience despite having internet access or a cel phone.
