Studio takes a VERY long time to load!

  • With X1-C Switched on and display at Home. Run the Bambu Studio: Ver 2.4.0 (AppImage) and it takes over 60sec to load. Tried with both the printer in LAN and Cloud mode - no difference.
  • X1-Carbon
  • I can provide an strace log should it be of any interest. It doesn’t tell me anything but I do notice an extraordinary number of “Timeout” messages?

Regards, Martin

without a model to load it’s 35 seconds on an i5-6500 3.2Ghz

I suggest to update pc and also run the freeware version of CCleaner for register errors.
run the register fix a couple of times and then reboot and retry

Operating System: Kubuntu 24.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.12
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.115.0
Qt Version: 5.15.13
Kernel Version: 6.14.0-36-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 32 × 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i9-13900
Memory: 31.1 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® Graphics
Manufacturer: ASUS

i7-8700K @3.7Ghz, Nvidia GTX1070, Windows 11 Pro, Samsung 970EVO 2TB SSD, 32Gb RAM.

Studio 2.4.0.70 opens to Home page in about 8 seconds. Not normally logged in, do not use cloud features. Same after fresh boot, Windows prefetch has no apparent affect on subsequent launches.

Logged in, with auto user preset sync turned on, Studio launch requires about 9 seconds.

Thats what I would expect. So…
What is my setup doing/not doing that is takeing soooo long?

Regards, M.

Additional information:
Tried the Flatpak package - no different over 60sec to load.
Tried to compile from source - not bright enough to follow the instructions!

Built a VM (same Ubuntu 24.04LTS) both the AppImage and Flatpak load in under 10sec.

So… There is something about my Workstation that Studio does not like - but what? Other AppImages (FreeCAD, KiCAD, DrawIO etc) run just fine.

Any suggestions will me most welcome.

Regards, M.

I have the same problem. In fact, I got a lot of prompts asking me to Wait or Force Quite bambu studio. I’ve tried everything ChatGPT can think of, to no avail.

However, I have two Ubuntu 24 machines. One is a laptop. The laptop has won’t run bambu studio properly. The desktop machine runs bambu studio just fine.

Both machines have NVIDIA GPUs, and both use NVIDIA’s drivers, not the Nouveau driver. I have no idea why it works on one and not the other.
