The latest Studio upgrade killed the install on my system. It fails when trying to load the network plugin. I can load the network plugin if I run the app as local Windows administrator, but this causes an issue where the app is trying to write data to the “C:\Users"local-admin”\AppData\Local\BambuStudio\EBWebView". This fails because my normal login does not have rights to the local admin AppData folder. When I click through the write error, the Studio Home tab will be blank and I cannot login into the Bambu portal. I also cannot access the Device tab. If I login to the PC as the local admin, the new Studio appears to work OK but then I no longer have access to my company network to access files. This is an untenable situation. Anybody have any thoughts?
Oops! That sounds like a significant error. Hey @BambuLab … better jump on this quickly.
OK, I figured this out. These are the steps I used to get Studio working again after the update buggered the install.
- Uninstall Studio
- Close MS Teams if you have it running (opens a Studio DLL for some reason)
- Delete the BambuStudio folders under C:\Users\username\AppData\Local and Roaming folders.
- Run the Studio install as Admin (because my standard work account does not have install privileges).
- At the end of the install, uncheck the Start Studio box, close the install window.
- Start Studio from the desktop icon and go through the setup wizard.
- The network plugin installs normally, and I have access to the Bambu login and my printer.
My situation is somewhat unique. I have two logins on my company PC. The normal one that is locked down and a second one that has local admin rights (for software installs). I think the issue was doing the install with the admin account was fine until starting the app for the first time. Starting as the local admin (using my network account with local admin privileges) appears to have buggered configurations which was interfering with starting the app under my normal login. Unchecking the “Start Studio” box on the install window and then starting under the normal login appears to have worked around the install issues.
Did this and it worked! Only thing is when I deleted the files, the dll was being used by Microsoft Teams, so make sure to close that too!
Good point. I had to shutdown Teams also. I’ve updated the steps in the previous post.
It also deleted all the filament presets I spent about 2 hours adjusting last night. Great stuff
Restored my presets by logging out, logging back in.
Hey, lifesaver! Thanks so much
I had this same issue but I was able to solve it a different way which might help for someone.
- I had to quit out of the nvidia broadcast program that was currently running on my PC
- Then went to C:\Users*username*\AppData\Roaming\BambuStudio to delete the “plugin folder” (put your computer username for “username”)
- Then went back to install the missing network plugin from the studio.
This worked for me and maybe it might help someone else. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but to no avail.
For some reason it messed up the path of the folder. Try this:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\BambuStudio
Thanks, it worked also for me!
