I’ve been printing large projects on my P1S with no problems. Suddenly I’m getting pillowing and other nasty effects on my first layer of another project. Since this is a face-down print, the effect is huge gouges and grooves on the face, which is unacceptable.
I’ve been troubleshooting for two days. I did flow calibrations and the smoothest swatch is zero. But I still changed flow rate up and down and get the same effect.
I’m using the same filaments as I just used on other projects, and they are in a Sunlu filament heater mounted on my AMS. RH < 20%.
I don’t know what to do next. This print is in the same project as the one that prints fine, so they have the same settings. I’m printing first layer at 50 mm/sec. 220C, bed 60C supertack plate.
I’m a beginner so I can only say what I think it might be. Could it be that the spool was not fully dried, and by the time you got to the middle part you started to get these issues? I opened some Bambu Fillament (PLA Basic) and one Sunlu (PLA Rainbow Translucent) one from the vacuum packages, and I can guarantee after having issues that they are not always as dry as you might think.
The three filaments I’m using have been living in the dryer for several days. The effects sure look like wet filament, but there’s something else going on.
Holy moly! I just started it again with Z offset of .04 and so far it looks smooth. We’ll see. I’ve never made that change before.
I continued to troubleshoot with AI. Adding a Z Offset of .04 made it better but still had plowing. Offset of .08 cured the problem and I printed two more with very good first layers.
However, now printing anything on the P1S results in spaghetti…and that’s going back to a profile with zero offset.
