This guy does a very thorough job of comparing H2D and X1C in regards to overhang:
The headline is that his testing (at least his initial testing reported in the youtube) indicated H2D’s doesn’t handle >45 degree overhangs as well as X1C. What he didn’t say, and which I’m hoping is true, is that this is the result of the default print profiles rather than something inherent in the H2D design. Perhaps the current defaults are a bit crude and can be improved enough to close the apparent gap in performance? Anyone know?
As I also own and use an X1C, I can confirm that I have noticed the same as what his youtube observations were regarding overhangs. Anyone else?

For what I understand from many, is that the cooling on the H2D is much stronger than on the X1C.
So I guess they dialed down the cooling settings for the H2D and possibly a bit too much on overhangs.
And if it’s not the cooling, then it would be other profile settings IMHO.

I definitely do hope so. The funny thing though is that if it were as easy as that, wouldn’t that youtuber just have gone ahead and done it? He sure sounds sophisticated enough and more than willing to sweat the details.
Well, I guess it’s something we’ll all face sooner or later, and then we’ll know for sure.
BTW, by bringing this up, I’m not trying to throw shade on the H2D. It’s just that I like to have solutions ready at hand well in advance of running into problems, especially problems already known and identified by others.
The h2d seems to have really good cooling on the left nozzle and not so good on the right. Put your finger under each side.

even that is still too much most of the time, ouch
i mean the cooling for right nozzle, as it’s significantly stronger than x1c (and even a1) profiles have to be finetuned again.

He only played with fan speed. He needed to look at overhang speed. I have had similar issues on my X1C, and I adjusted overhang speed and got perfect prints when I got it just right.

It may be that the minimum layer time needs adjusting as well, because the point of failure in that overhang test on at least one of his test models was high up, with pretty much nothing else to print, except for a very small curved pillar, so he may have had that dialed in too fast without enough layer cooling time built-in.
Yeah, it would be great if he could release the 3mf and we can have a look.

I found the model on makersworld that he used:
and printed it directly from the Bambu Handyh, which means it printed using whatever its default is for PLA, even though I was using Sunlu HS-PLA. Therefore, the print conditions were not tuned to my filament. i.e. my print situation was worse than his.
Nonetheless, although his print started failing the tall arch fairly early, mine did not. The print became thinner at 70 but didn’t start failing on the bottom until it got to 80.
Therefore, I’m going to disregard everything he said.

good info to check out, I will need to compare this to my X1C
I printed several of a similar test (at least the overhang part,) on mine, and my ABS results are a bit better than his PLA results. My PETG result is a bit better than that and my PLA results are near perfect up to and including 80 degrees. 90 degree overhang is a bit messy on the bottom, but plenty usable.
