Hi, I just got some Sunlu PETG Fiber from Temu. But on the box I Can not see it saying ‘Fibre’ anywhere on the 9 boxes I got. Just PETG, which I ordered on 9th March just got here today.
Now it looks like normal PETG; it’s shiny. I have ordered about 30 kg of Eryone CF from Temu, and Eryone is matte-looking and a bit rough to touch, not much, but completely different from what Sunlu Fibre has sent me. I did check I ordered it right, and I did lol.
Plus, look at the quality of packaging with just a plastic wrap. Now I do get on to temu and get some money back. Because most of the companies send it this way.
So has anyone else had Sunlu PETG fibre, or have I been sent the wrong filament?
Lol. Just got on to Temu, got a full refund and get to keep the 9 kg of filament and a 20% code as well. Happy days lol. Got to do another order within a week. I could have got it back to my card. But I know I’m going to get more filament. Only wish Eryone did plastic spools for the AMS.
Yesterday I got one Sunlu PETG black one that came from Amazon. Not ordered any filament from Amazon. The last time I did an order was the end of January. Funny, I know Amazon delivers for other people but still do not know who it came from.
Thats how their PETG-CF looks like, BTW it is not the gratest filament…I printed iphone holder and it literally melted in my car, and I do not live in Arizona but Toronto. the roll is still full… Their entire PETG line is not my fav. Waste of money.
Thanks for the info. With PETG I do use a lot; I have not had any problems with it, but saying that, I have not used it in a car or outside, mate. I live in England, so I think if I put it outside, it would be the best test, lol.
CF filled filaments are in black mostly, while GF filled filaments are available in all sort of colors.
Since both are chopped tiny pieces instead of big chunks, mechanical strength differences are small. CF “reinforced” filaments are generally stiffer. But since PLA and PETG are not really bond to carbon tube. The chopped tiny fibre here mostly is acting as filler instead. Not really sure about PA6-CF or PPA-CF.
In general, carbon fibre can be very stiff and strong, which could be used as drive shaft. Glass fibre reinforced materials are more flexible and cheaper compare to carbon fibre reinforced. Hence it’s used to make motorcycle faring or boat.
Both filaments, CF and GF filled, have same matte finish, the finished surface we love.
Yeah, only if you have continuous fibre in print part like what Markforged does to improve mechanical strength, otherwise, CF and GF filled are mostly for cosmetic look.
BTW, carbon fibre does conduct electricity, so that it’s not ideal for electronic housing, unless you know what you are doing.
Thanks for the info in detail. Not up on any of it yet; I’ve only been doing 3D printing for just over a year, and me being 61 a bit slow with a lot of the settings. I just do it for a hobby. I am medically retired now, so I’m very bored, and I wanted to do 3D printing over 10 years ago. But it looks like too much messing about from what I read about it then.
