Hi all, first post here.
Been printing like mad since mid december when I got my X1 carbon and havent had any major issues until I started using sunlu PLA pink which was giving me a fuzziness particualrly noted over the top of the knitted elephant model from makerworld.
I’ve since tried many solutions including:
- Drying the filament (even bought a sunlu dryer). Tried drying for 4 hours, then 6 and finally another 6 at 50deg Aiming for lowest humidity the dryer can hit at 30.
- Calibrating both flow dynamics and flow rate both automatic and manual.
- Enabling retraction and adjusting the speed around the 40 mark.
- Changing nozzle temp up and down from 205 to 220.
I’ve printed about 20 of the damn elephants and they all come out the same way.
Creality PLA filament comes out perfectly without any calibration, same with wanhao and funnily enough sunlu PLA silk in silver is also fine.
I was waiting for a new batch of plain sunlu PLA in grey so that I could compare with grey creality believing perhaps the colour would play a role. Tried that straight out of the box and again after 6 hours drying but its as bad as the pink on both counts.
I’m including pictures of the nice looking creality one and the terrible sunlu one. It seems the texture isnt bad on the sides but is a lot worse over the top where the model is flatter. That should be easier for the printer…
Can anyone suggest something I’m missing, I cant imagine its sunlu filament in general as there are plenty of good review. If it was a bad batch it seems unlikely that 2 separate orders would have the same defects (not impossible but seems unlikely)
