Support blockers don't work

I have a long term problem with not getting support blockers to work. I’ve tried ChatGPT, youtube/google and I’ve searched the forum with it’s suggested threads.

Most of the time I make do, but I really can’t print anything with detailed teeth in a mouth. The supports just won’t respect any blocker or negative part I put in. This then can’t be removed without damaging teeth. See my example where I try to paint supports on the front of teeth while blocking in the mouth. I’ve tried all the different settings like manual or tree etc. Any help?

I’m using Bambu X1C, 0.32 layer height.

I can’t say why the blockers are not working, and I have not had a similar problem, so I may be missing something.

I do not see how the the upper teeth could possibly print in that orientation without support, and they in turn provide much of the support for the areas above. You do need supports.

Normal supports are strictly vertical, so they would have to rest in the lower jaw.

Trees can “reach in” to a certain extent, but there is a limit to the branch angle, and there is not much room between upper/lower teeth for a tree branch of a suitable size to get into the mouth. The default branch angle of 45° certainly cannot reach past the teeth to the roof of the mouth.

If you have to accept supports, increasing Support/object xy distance may at least keep them from sticking to the teeth.

As a last resort, make the teeth separate “dentures” and glue them in place.

THanks for the quick reply. Yeah the supports end up impossible to remove even with large xy distance because they are wrapped up in the teeth. I’ve never done the “dentures” type splitting of stl models. It’s a skill I’m interested in learning though.
