Brand new to this, reading some other topics today I think I jumped the gun on buying support filament. I don’t have an AMS add-on, but since the filament hub had four ports and the Bambu Studio software lets you set multiple filaments, I thought I could just feed a support filament into the second port on the hub. Reading on here, I’m guessing that’s not possible. Am I correct?
Possible: yes.
However, you will need to do the AMS work.
It will require editing the code to add a pause to each filament swap, and you have to manually pull the filament in use and feed the support one every layer.
For a simple model and with commitment, I can see this being done… otherwise, the effort seems too high.

So the three spare ports on the filament hub are not used without an AMS setup, I’m guessing.
I tried printing something with Bambu PLA as the model and the support, and found it to be a lot of work trying to clean the supports off the model, so I was hoping to have better luck with support filament. Looks like that’ll have to wait until I have the AMS setup.
The AMS lite filament hub is intended for usage with AMS lite; nevertheless, you can use different applications for it.
I have one AMS (not lite) - for me, it is helpful to deal with filaments unsuitable for the AMS, avoiding the tedious process of disconnecting and connecting the PTFE tubes …
The AMS is a valuable add-on to BL printers, which enables excellent features. If you have the chance, grab one.
