Hi Folks, on a new H2D after a full calibration routine from the control panel and running firmware 01.02.04.00 ‘out of the box,’ I had a nozzle clog (auto stopping the print) in the left extruder feeding ‘Support for PLA’ (SFPLA) fresh from the vacuum pack on a spool hung on the supplied external spindle. The fresh model material, PLA-CF, fed from an AMS 2 to the right head printed well. New 0.4 nozzles were used. The clog occurred at around 15 minutes print time while building one of the tree supports. There were signs of the impending SFPLA failure until that point. I am relying on BL settings for immediate success. I updated the firmware to the current 01.03.00.00 (Studio still at 2.6.0.51) in the hope that the SPFLA print would improve. I tried again 4 days later (SPFLA still hanging outside) with normal support and the model in a different orientation. The 4+ hour print was successful, but there were multiple instances of print problems with the SPFLA, including an instance of spaghetti. In a support bed, in the layer against the model, there were ripples or blobs in the SPFLA that left ‘scars’ on the model surface. I’ve read that SPPLA is and is not very sensitive to humidity. I’ve read that it is intended only as an interface and not full support. Perhaps I could tolerate it as interface only in certain circumstances, but otherwise I have no practical use for it, as I typically want to designate one nozzle to take care of support needs. So I suppose an alternative would be PETG for full support. Any insight regarding SPFLA and/or my issue with it would be appreciated.
