Support for PLA separating from object during print

I’ve used support for PLA material one other time and it worked well. Last night I tried to print an object and the object lifted from the support material causing the print to fail.

The first layer was black (normal PLA), for the foundation of support. Then a few supports in white (support PLA) were printed. Then most of the print occurs in black (7 hours), with the white support just for the bottom layers that don’t touch the plate.

What happened was the main part of the object lifted from the white support filament during the end of the print, so when the top weight was heaviest.

What would be some settings to adjust? I know I can adjust the distance between the support and filament, tightening it up slightly would make it stick better, but might be too much.

I could change the position, I used auto for the current position.

Maybe add additional supports to hold some of the weight? I know it’s hard to tell without seeing the model.

The object is a cape and the cape is standing upright tilted at a 45 degree angle. The supports are just at the bottom and at the top, by the collar. The print didn’t get to the color before it lifted.

TLDR - support filament is separating from the object during print, possibly due to the object being top heavy and the supports on the bottom. Any thoughts?
