This is the Spring Cat model, and there is an issue with how the spring’s supports print.
I have two computers, one with version 1.10.02.76 (laptop) and one with version 2.03.54 (desktop).
This image below is from version 1.10.02.76. You can notice the tree supports around the spring. This, when printed, was highly stable and has never failed.
However, on version 2.03.54, my cats have been lacking the tree supports.
Settings have not been changed between the two versions. Is there a way that I can get it to look like the first picture on version 2.03.54 without reverting back?
In the 2.x version if the “remove small overhangs” box is checked, try clearing it if you are useing tree (auto). In some files I have worked with the box could be checked in BS 1.x and trees would generate fine but in 2.x some trees would not be generated unless the box was cleared.
The only thing I am seeing is that clearing Remove Small Overhangs box and change threshold angle to 45 will support some of that area again. This does seem to start generating more support in general so may not work for you.
I also noticed that BS 2.x dropped Bottom Interface Layers from the advanced section of Support but I have no idea if that is related to the issue or not.
I am by no means that knowledgeable in the support area so hopefully someone who is can give you a better answer.
The supports generated by v1.10 only keep the spring coils from being dragged to the side by the nozzle. Nothing is printed on the supports and there is always a small gap (Support x/y distance) between the support and the model.
Painting with the circle pen on the edges did not work as well. Supports were only generated where the circle wrapped around the corner and between coils.
