I’m printing in PTEG and using a single layer of PLA on the top of the supports.
The supports peel off as expected, but the rest of the model splits at the same layer.
From other posts, I’ve tried increasing the PLA purge amounts with no luck.
Before wasting a bunch of filament, I figured I’d see if anyone has resolved this issue before.
Material type changes through the same nozzle need more purging than the software allows [IMO], so send it to the max and give it it’s best shot. edit: You can also increase the temperature range’s maximum on the filament profile to make the nozzle get hotter during purge which may or may not help you depending on your filament.
I think you’re going to find it cannot be done successfully. I gave up on PTEG w/PLA on my X1C and bought a H2C to address the problem. The purge volumes have to be very high. Arguably higher than the printer actually allows. Even trace amounts of contamination significantly weaken the PETG inter-layer bonding. So the amount of waste is prohibitive unless you only have a few layers that require support.
Also, the PLA is prone to jamming in the extruder due to the latent heat from the much higher extrusion temp needed by PETG.
