I have an object to print which is three discs (each 2.5mm deep) sandwiched together. The middle disc is approximately 3mm narrower/inset. So as to stop the top disc collapsing along the protruding edge, I have to use supports. The bottom of the supports are sticking to the bottom disc and when I remove them, I am damaging the finished item.
The top interface is 0.2mm, top Z 0.25, bottom Z, 2mm. I’m using PLA and also PLA support filament.
Am I doing anything obviously wrong, or is there a solution?

Are you able to post a picture of the model?

It’s possible that changing the print orientation might help.

We can consider if the model was designed for FDM printing, and perhaps if not, it could be modified in some way?
Without seeing the model and print orientation, you will only get generic tips like “try using support filament”
Have you tried selecting the “On build plate only” option in the support settings?
This will stop the support being formed in the model.
Without a picture/screenshot, it is hard to suggest anything that will guarantee success, the best I can do is guess.
Change the support type to “tree” and the sub-type to “hybrid”.
Depending on your model, this combined with the on build plate only. Gives the best possibility of success.
However, how thin the “fillings” are, this may not resolve the issue.
Screenshots from Bambu Studio will mean guesses are based on your model. Make sure to select the “summary” view so we can distinguish the support interface easily from the model.

Changing the orientation or design is not feasible, but thank you for pointing it out. I’ll add a photo if no one is able to advise.
