Swapping hot ends- procedure

Hello,

I have a P1S with the factory standard .4mm nozzle. I just bought a few other nozzle sizes to try them out. Is there a ‘best practice’ for swapping them?

It looks straight forward: unload the filament, power down(unplug), pull off the cover & electrical and you can unscrew and reattach the new one. Then you just run the calibration and apparently that’s it?

Is it that simple? Should I be doing any extra steps to avoid future clogging, etc?

good luck- Jim

I find the most difficult part is to place the cables back behind the litlle plastic channel but when it’s just temporary, like installing the 0.2 nozzle for a particular print and then changing back to regular 0.4, I let them mainly loose. I don’t even run calibation, z-homing at start of print is enough for me.

Where you should pay attention is on reconnecting the cables, you can install the connectors half way up, double check they are properly installed prior to putting the power back on.

Definitely second that. should be able to hear hot end fan when hot end heating starts. If that fan is not running, and filament melts in the cool end. You’ll have fun getting it out.
