Switching between external roll and ams

The question I have is how to do a unload and reload when switching back to the ams. I will unload. pull the filament back in the sunlu box but then I am stuck. I cannot figure out how to tell the ams to load in a roll. I have been powering off and back on whenever I go from an external roll to the ams again which is not good.

I have a P1S with a ams / ams pro 2 / and a sunlu 4 roll heater box. I am always switching between abs and tpu in my sunlu and other filaments with the ams units.

I do this at the lcd on the printer which I would like to continue doing.

Are you trying to do this during a print?

A print sliced for using the AMS will automatically load in the filament it case for.

I have experiemented with thids recently. Unfortunately the only way is manually.

I did it by creating a pause in the print, (which allowed me to change the filament) then the change material at the next layer up (so the settings changed).

If you only use change material, the printer does not automatically pause.

This really needs to be a feature in the software imo.

No, I am talking about after the print is over and I want to switch back to the AMS. I know I can do it at the PC but how do I go from external spool to ams using the LCD on the printer.

When my print is done I use the feeding menu on the printer and unload. Then I spin the roll so the filament is mostly back into my dryer. I then want to use the AMS but when you go to the load option, it doesn’t give AMS as an option. If I don’t select anything it gives me an error code for no filament.

I have a feeling I am missing something obvious here.

You don’t need to load the AMS after a print. The start of the next print (using the AMS) will load it.

I was getting a out of filament error code when I tried to leave it alone after unload. I forget exactly what it says. Ill grab a picture next time.
