I recently watched a video on how to print colored letters on a part (see below) using an AMS. Is it possible to do something similar if you don’t have an AMS. If so, how do you switch colors?
Richard
Way easier than you think.
Follow all their instructions, except, swap “Add Pause” instead of “Swap Filament”.
When the printer gets to that layer it will pause, you remove the filament and put the other colour on instead. Resume the print. Repeat for all the PAUSES you added.
If the change is by layer as shown in the picture/video, Malc is right, very easy ![]()
Thanks… If I understand you correctly, when the printer pauses, you select unload filament at the printer, load the new color and hit resume?
I think I tried this some time ago an got mediocre results. I think I will try it again but I will calibrate the filament first and increase the number of layers on the second color. When I did this before, the second color looked weak and the top surface was not that smooth.
Thanks for your help… Richard
That is correct.
What you are actually doing is saying
Your weak colour is almost certainly that you only printed one or two layers of the highlight colour.
If the model is white and you print a single layer of red, any white over the top of that will look pink.
Light colours may need more than one layer.
Test it on something small or only a few layers of a small model.
Thanks. Yes, I’m pretty sure I only printed one or two layer of the accent color. If I recall, you can click on the layers on the right side of Bambu Slicer to tell it how many layers to print the accent color. Unfortunately, I am traveling now so I won’t have a chance to look at how you control the number of layers each color is printed. Back next week so I will give it a whirl when I return.
Thanks again… Richard
