Switching from another printer to H2D

We have just bought the H2D device, and I am in change to acceptance.

First of all, the policy on trust level 1 may help protecting from spam, but it sucks. If I’d not be persistent, I’d marked unacceptance and moved to another printing vendor. The quick and seamless access to the community is most important factor in choosing the device.

Now to the problems I encountered during building the project in Bambu Studio and having printing issues. I am totally new to Bambu. I have no connection to the printer, moving files using USB stick. The printer has two 0.4 mm nozzles.

  1. I have built two custom filaments into the project, and it was said the profiles will go to gcode file. However, when I start printing and choosing the filament, printer shows question marks on the filament installed and I have no idea if printer uses correct filament profile from the file or some generic setting for ABS. I so far did not find how to import filament profiles into the printer using the USB stick.

  2. I have the following settings for the project

They are selected this way because there’s an art on the bottom layer(s) which does not print properly with thicker line width than 0.24.

The project contains the vertical wall decreasing its wall thickness at 45 degrees

and the problem is as (suspect) I have outer wall setting to 0.4, it prints the thinnest top of the wall with excessive width and decreased layer height, effectively smearing the whole acute angle.

it causes inner dimensions to decrease, and one part does not fit into another anymore.

What should I do to project for printer to print edges which are thinner than 0.4 with their set up height and width?

  1. Inner holes for screws with support.

a) this is a bottom of the part, with hole support removed. While you can see the dimensions of the outer big hole for nut is of correct diameter, diameter of inner hole for the M3 screw is actually less than needed along the whole thickness of the part, and I have to use drill to increase the diameter to 3 mm. I have the following support settings

What should I change to have inner small holes for M3 screw of proper diameter?

b) after removing the support, the surface for the screw’s head is corrupt in both XY and Z planes. With previous printer, while it was much harder to remove the support from the hole, I had almost ideal seat for the screw.

What should I change to project to have well shaped seat for screw’s head / nut?

  1. The printer if very quick, twice and sometimes even much quicker than previous printer. But it is not a goal for me, I need to quality and is ok trade off the speed favoring quality of print.

Thank you very much for the help in advance.

For starters, I would strongly suggest doing at least the basic Bambu Academy courses for both the H2D and also Bambu Studio.

Next, under the Quality menu, make sure you have Arachne wall generation enabled if you don’t already.

Finally, you may need to use hole compensation if you’re having issues with small holes not being sized properly.

Thanks for Arachne setting, it seems to be what I need. I will have to play with its advanced settings though.

Regarding XY compensation - does not help. Increasing it will also increase hole for the nut, and it will fall out, will look ugly and actually will not perform its task by holding the nut. I may fix it at the model level by increasing the hole size in STL model, so not a big deal.

What’s about the precision of the support for holes? Where to look at to have support to be printed with higher precision/density? There’re a number of settings like base/spacing pattern, spacing etc without any common profile selection.

PS. Will RTFM later.

I think I more or less figured it out for the support. Thankfully slicer for former printer model’s slicer had similar settings so I just copied them out of there with some further thought, and now time to test.

Thanks again.

If you are worried about cloud services, activate network mode, works like a charm.
