I was watching a YouTube vid by Slant 3D. In it he said that there is an estimation that Bambu Lab will sell 75 million dollars of filament this year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wx-l8pHAGC4 See time line 49:00
If this is actually true then do you think they care about this thread and the people who are having problems with tape??
Yknow that bambu labs can just bend the end of the spool to one of the multiple convenient holes that they have on their spool, right? Or cut a small hole in the cardboard and bend it under there. That would be a good idea. My nephew owns a toybox, their filament or “printer food” has a bent piece of filament at the end and he has had no problems. I don’t have the time or patience to babysit my rolls. I’m just gonna start buying 3rd party rolls. The manual filament entrance is worth it to not jam my AMS lite.
So that was what they did prior to taping. I also think they are doing it with certain colors still, since I purchased 10 rolls of Latte Matte Brown PLA less than a month ago and it was folded into the hole, with no tape and it worked great.
However, I believe it was a new batch of filament, and not prior-tape filament since the color was different than their swatches, and it was still rather poorly spun so the filament got snagged at the beginning, which is what I experienced with the White Mattle PLA that was originally taped.
Curious if you dried it? Reason I ask is some have wondered if heat from drying the filament “sets” the tape adhesive to grip the filament harder and make it more likely to pull the tape into the AMS.
Had the Jade White from a CMYW lithophane batch bought around end of December run out the other day, had tape on the end, but the tape stayed on the roll.
