During my prints with the P1S it will randomly change the temperature during the print. Sometimes it happens during a print sometimes it doesn’t. I could drop from 210 C to 140 C. I have to pause the print, change the temperature, and wait 5 minutes for it to register that I changed the temperature. I am very confused on why it won’t stay on the temperature I set it at, or why it’s very hard to change the temperature on the printer if it works at all. On my computer it changes the temperature very quickly but it takes a while to power on my computer. Why can’t I just change it on the printer? Please let me know why this is happening and how I can fix it.
Just so you all know the temperature change is only happening on the hot end. The chamber and heat bed stay a consistent temperature.
during the print? Just to clarify, the head is actively pushing out filament onto the model and the temperature just drops to 140?
So if you don’t do anything, the model entirely stops printing at that point and you have a half-printed model? At this happens at random locations, so you get models of different levels of completion?
Yes. The head will just randomly change temperatures and continue to pull out filament. I’ve had 4 failed prints because of this.
Does the target temperature change or just the measured temperature?
The 140°C nozzle temp is a “safe” temperature the printer uses for specific tasks like probing or waiting.
Does it also park itself over the poop chute? That would indicate a printing problem being (falsely?) detected. Usually these throw error messages though. Abnormal nozzle temp, filament run out (falsely?) detected, failure to extrude,… that kind of thing.
Are getting any error messages? Did you observe it happening?
You can usually use the printers display to change the nozzle temp in the machine settings. So not quite sure where you are having issues or if the printer is just not responding…

Both the target and the measured temperature change
This is during a print. There are no errors occurring that I am aware of. The filament still comes out fine, and this does not happen because of color swapping. It would be let’s say 1 hour in the print, and I would be watching it go and suddenly the temperature just randomly drops. It doesn’t always drop to 140. It usually drops to 140-185 degrees C.
And it just keeps on printing the model, right? It doesn’t do anything else?
Yep, it just keeps printing. The temperature change doesn’t let the filament stick very well anymore so the print fails. (This is PLA basic since I just got a 3d printer)
Humidity in the AMS sits around 25%
Are these single color or multicolor prints?
Usually single color. It has only happened 2 or 3 times during multi color.
And the problem happens only on one printer?
Yes, I only have 1 printer. I just got into 3d printing and it’s a brand new P1S combo. Only about 5 days old
The printers display and the handy app generally don’t work. I can pretty much only use my computer. I’m not sure what’s happening
Definitely file a ticket ASAP. That is important to ensure eligibility for warranty claims.
That display should definitely be working…
Bambu Shop, Menu, Support, Support, Technical ticket (right at the bottom). You’ll likely need to wait for longer than the 24h for a response, but key at this stage is the date of filing. In the EU, we have 6 months but elsewhere wareanty is only 2 weeks!
In the US the warranty is 1 year.
If his unit is defective he should swap it under their DOA policy.
Well, in the EU warranty is 2 years but there’s a caveat: in the first 6 months, it is usually assumed that defects were present at delivery. Once those 6 months have passed (and if indeed push comes to shove), the consumer needs to prove presence of the defect at purchase.
I do not know about the US specifics, and how they are usually handled, though.
Either way, with a new printer Bambu’s support is the right contact as, at least in theory, uninstructed user “fixes” could void the warranty.
So he’d only really want to play with the printer if instructed to do so by Bambu.
I expect Bambu to run the usual gauntlet so indeed, requesting a printer replacement is probably his best bet.
Ok, but what type of issue would I say it is?
