Text on transparent PETG,

Hi,
This problem only affects printing with clear PETG.
I’m having trouble placing fine text on a smooth, flat surface. I want the text to be printed only on the top layer and to be visible. However, no matter what settings I try, the final smooth surface is always interrupted during printing – this leads to light refraction and a messy text.
I can’t see any reason why the text is partially embedded in the layer underneath??

If you don’t feel like fixing the 3D model, just do it quick and dirty: use modifier cubes. Drag / size the cube up to layer 7-8 and specify: Only the transparent PETG should be printed here.

Don’t forget to select the transparent filament for the modifier cube:

Change the depth of the letters then use the position tool to add it to a layer for example a 2 mm depth letter will sit at 17.01 if the height of the object is 18 mm

As it does in this example (depth = thickness) in the slicer

Just one other thing that may help your overall print quality, you may want to flip the part over so the text prints downward, I’ve had better luck when printing fine detail that way, especially with the supertack build plates.

OrcaSlicer offers additional options to provide uninterrupted top surfaces.

These options are currently available only in the (beta) Nightly build.

thank you all! --special thanks to ikarus

I succeeded with the latest orcaslicer version.
I was an orca fan anyway
exactely what I was looking for…
