Hey all,
I have an interesting issue where my textured PEI sheets are holding my matte PLA prints too well, making them really hard to release even when flexing the bed.
I’ve recently just purchased 4x new textured PEI beds to see if that would help but no luck. I always let the bed fully cool before removing the part. On the rare occasion the print will self release.
I’ve tried changing the z-offset from the standard -0.04mm to 0 and it still holds too well.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to stop it sticking so well?
Thanks in advanced!
A common recommendation is to pop the print and plate in the freezer.
You could also slightly lower your plate and nozzle temp settings for the first layer. A fine line to tread for sure, but then plate adhesion issues are usually a lack of adhesion rather than too much.

Could also put a strip of glue stick, then spread it with a damp paper towel.
Glue aids remarkably as a release agent.

This is normal with textured PEI when hot, you have to wait for it to cool/
Thanks for the info, I have heard about putting them in the freezer but I’m trying to work on automatic part ejection, so hopefully keeping the bed on.
Great point, I did think about lowering the bed temp, but thought if it’s not releasing when it’s well below the bed temp then it won’t change it, but now reading into it a bit more this might be a good solution, as hopefully it doesn’t get as stuck into the bed!
Thanks for the reply

Thank you! I will have a play around with this and see how it goes!
