I just have to thank Bambu Lab for showing me an error message I’ve never seen before—and I’ve encountered plenty of strange ones over the years. But today, after being notified of a printer update, I was treated to a new one: “The chamber is too hot; open the door and the top glass panel.” My reaction was… “Thanks a lot—now I can finally spend hours troubleshooting.” Things are rarely straightforward with this printer. It’s excellent when it works, but anyone buying a printer from Bambu Lab needs to be prepared to spend a lot of time troubleshooting and reading through their “how-to” wikis. I hope market competition brings some new manufacturers into the mix who have a better handle on quality—regarding software, hardware, and customer support.
This message has been on Bambu printers for years, and only shows up when the chamber temp is above a certain point and your print job contains low temperature filaments.
The reason for this is above a certain chamber temperature, heat creep will occur, your filament will stop feeding properly and your print job will be ruined - which I don’t think anybody wants.
…and what part about a message saying “open the front door” isn’t straightforward?
The machine gave you the solution to the problem lol and you complain that youll now need to spend “a lot of time troubleshooting and reading”
Do you want it to make you a cup of tea too? What in the heck is this rant, are you literate? Do the thing. PLA softens at low temps, you need to avoid this, no amount of paragraphs and gnashing-of-teeth will change your physical reality
Hi, everything you wrote is spot on If only the issue were simply that the printer was too hot… But the error message is incorrect. I do appreciate that the printer alerts you when something is wrong so you can fix it. However, if you got in your car, put on your seatbelt, and drove off—only for the seatbelt warning light to come on and an annoying alarm to sound telling you that you weren’t wearing your belt—you’d probably think that was a bit unnecessary, right? I don’t mind it giving warnings, but there has to be a valid reason for it…
And an implicit admission that your door was closed. Maybe open it. But IMO door isnt the right thing, the top glass is the thing. Use a vented riser and you wil never have heat creep on PLA, nature guarantees your success
I’m not saying I don’t understand your problem, but with my first P2S, I actually wish it had shown me a warning saying that the chamber temperature was too high for printing PLA.
Just curious how many other brands of printers have you had? You should have started with an Anet A8, you’d have gotten an education and appreciate what you have now.
