"The extruder is not extruding normally"

The fault description “The extruder is not extruding normally” lead me down a path of having to do a nozzle clean, but it turned out my nozzle was fine, I tried using the other nozzle and got the same fault.

It turns out the extruder gear was loose on the shaft (it should be a press fit), and wasn’t feeding the filament correctly.

I’m curious, how many print hours are on the printer?

Just over 500 hours. It’s an early model, non pro version.

I’ve fixed it with some loctite retaining compound, I’ll replace it with a new one eventually, I hope to get a free gear assembly under warranty.

I have seen 2 or 3 others reporting this issue also here.
If you open a ticket, they should send you a replacement.

Thank you for posting this! I’ve been trying to work out what was wrong with my printer for weeks!! This was exactly the problem.

I used a marker pen to draw a line on the end of the shaft so I could see it spinning freely when I was holding the filament. Disassembled removed the shaft, roughed it up with a file and added some thread lock to it. Works perfectly now.
