The music box competition is frustrating

So far as I can see all of them have some way or another the kit implemented but I did just a quick look over, maybe I missed it?

Yeahhhh. The benchy contest… I just cannot look at it, such HIGH level of creativity and devotion going on there :face_vomiting::sob: junk dump contest as predicted

I’m looking forward to the first whiney butts that start complaning their model didn’t win and then upon inspection used a xylophone or just made a sound amplifier  I’m ready

Oh yea me too
Judges kept it clean there

Okay, crossword clue “First video played on MTV: (Video Killed the … Star)”

Lol, no way… that one was asking for trouble from a technical point of view with the Remix-cannot-enter-contest issue and the New-Model-giving-reference workaround. Plus Benchy Anniversary is basically Valentines or X-mas… not really under your control as far as winning is concerned. That’ll be more luck of the draw than quality of your model.

It is an impressive project for sure, but for a contest specifically meant for models that incorporated the music box kit I find it extremely surprising that MakerWorld gave it a participation award, considering it doesn’t make use of the kit at all. While creativity should always be encouraged, it’s a bit disheartening for participants who adhered closely to the contest guidelines.

The biggest problem is @MakerWorld not enforcing their own rules about giving credits in the description for each uploaded model. That is a disgusting behavior from Makerworld alone.

From the creativity standpoint, yeah it’s all the same, but everyone is free to do what they want… as long as they follow the rules. And if MW was to go there now and start moderating all the models, i think there would be only a dozen and all the others would be removed.

The problem is that MW is not enforcing the attribution in a model created by someone else and that leads to MW not following the license also. Just imagine if people that get away with the benchy also start doing the same in your or my models. “hey, Makerworld did nothing about the benchy, so we can do it everywhere we want” is the mentality of most users

For flipping sakes. I cannot believe I missed that one. That is just a bunch of baloney! That is going to backfire on MW I hope. I will, and so should everyone that does NOT accept this result, file a ticket about this. The more backlash they get, the better.

Contests are becoming a joke. And i am being a bit offtopic here but i have to take this out of me…

Hiking Contest is on… Nice! Read the last sentence, marked with an asterisk

Go to the uploaded models… carabiners, hooks, everything that @MakerWorld said that it wouldn’t be allowed for the contest

People are dumb, but MW is the one letting users do that. Boot them out of the contest, remove their capability to get points for a month and enforce the rules you create for such contests… is it that hard? Do you need someone to moderate the contest entries? Heck, i could do it for free, just so that i could boot those people out of it once and for all…

tbf, they didn’t say not allowed… just that such models wouldn’t stand out. Same for the Mini Casino…

Pro Tip: Avoid simple chips, cards, or plain dice designs—they won’t stand out in the competition.

…it doesn’t say they’re not allowed; just to “avoid”. Won’t stand out is basically just saying, won’t win the contest like that.

Where’s the detailed description now?

I like prepping for contests as models have a long time to get visibility, but when the only information for a contest is the word “Crown” what do you do with that! I wish the descriptions and guidelines came when they announced the contest, and a way to pre-submit into the contest.

Supposedly this is the plan. I’m not sure when the “next update” is, but hopefully they will start doing this as it certainly helps out everyone involved.

Dear Martin4,
Thank you for pointing this out. For this contest, crowns—symbols of royalty and nobility—are the main focus. You’re welcome to replicate classic crown designs or showcase your own creative interpretation. We look forward to seeing more unique and imaginative crown models on MakerWorld!

…And the “Master Challenge: Water Spray”? Outdoors/ garden hose kids play time? Guns (Absolutely not for kids)? Car washing stuff? Articulated mermaids? Electric Water Spray Kit needed (too late for that now)?
Designing things takes a lot of time and effort you know.
