Wonder if that’s related. I dried 5 spools of ASA in 5 HTs. I got six. 2 next to H2D. 4 on top. I started printing when the drying was finished and one of the HT on top of the printer throws that error. Annoyingly the QR code just points to the generic HMS page and the error on printer just says to unplug the power from the HT. Oddly it isn’t drying so unplugging the power does nothing as it is still powered by the H2D as well.
Now I wonder. The HT in question is the one with the highest temp and I seriously wonder if the sensor gets confused because it’s on top of the H2D with chamber heater on full blast.
Can’t do much until the print is done but wonder if anyone seen this before.
This is a well-known issue. If you’re using the chamber heater, do not place the AMS, AMS 2, or AMS HT on top of the printer. If you load low-temperature filament in that setup, it’s only a matter of time before you run into problems.
That’s a bit silly though as technically you can’t even place the AMS anywhere but on top without buying longer PTFE tubes.
If that is ‘known’ - then it should be part of the documentation really.
And no, I only have ASA loaded when printing ASA. Not even PETG is loaded anywhere.
If you reach out to Bambu Lab support, I’m confident they would kindly share the same advice: when using the chamber heater, it’s best not to place any AMS unit on top of the printer.
Also, it’s not quite accurate that you would need longer PTFE tubes just to position your AMS units on either side of the printer. Naturally, this depends a bit on how your setup is arranged, but the standard tubes are generally long enough to place the AMS on the left or right side without any issues.
My warm recommendation would be to avoid placing AMS units on top of the printer if you’re using the chamber heater, as the heat tends to transfer into the AMS units and could potentially lead to unexpected issues.
I understand thank you. I don’t have an AMS2 but the HT does NOT fit on either side without purchasing extra tubes.
I know that because I have them both, on top and on the side (6 of them).
In fact, even if looking at the packaging list for the AMS2 - no chance this is long enough
In your case, the PTFE tubes seem quite short. I recommend getting a roll and placing the AMS units on the side of the printer instead.
I ran into an issue when I had them on top of the printer — I couldn’t load Support for PLA/PETG due to the high temperature inside the unit.
What if you put a gap between them and the lid with something like this?
Possibly. Yea. Might be a good option.
