I’ve been chasing G-code errors, serious warning conflicts, you name it, for a full day. I’ve read and tried ever solution I could find to no avail. So, today I began testing by pulling the more complex SVG parts off the plate and slicing one by to find which one was the problem.
My project is a coaster (See attached photos). I have a simple round base and assembled some SVG parts I designed using a quality vector based software. As the design was complex, I assumed they were the issue. I was wrong! It is the simple round base.
Removing the simple round base and previewing all SVGs I designed sliced OK! Slicing the simple round base alone, no other parts, had all the errors. How is that possible?
I’m a newbie but tempted to ignore the error(s) and print my project. Is that a bad idea.
In the first picture there’s something under the base that isn’t attached to it. Is the “M” under it? If you use the mouse to drag it to the side you should be able to see what’s there.
I second what @Olias said in the other thread. Bambu Studio has come a long way in terms of adding ways to manipulate models but it’s still just a slicer at heart. With your experience you would be a natural with any of the CAD programs. I started with Tinkercad and have moved on to Fusion. With either of those, or any of the ones Olias mentioned you could get this coaster done in no time, export it and print it using Studio.
I just created this project today with the two parts. I’ll take a chance and print and see.
And, yes this is surprisingly far different that Unigraphics. Assembling models were simple in UG.
Trying to align parts in Bambu Studio is, to me, a nightmare as I have little if any confidence if it’s aligned or not (with each part having the edge highlighted white hides the neighboring part’s edge so it makes it guess work at best. Add that each part has a black, 3d shadow making it even more fun).
Olias suggested to try Onshape so I did install the free version.
Can a model be completely assembled, then imported into Bambu Studio with it fully assembled as separate parts? No need to resize, reassemble?
I built a model in Tinker CAD and keep each part .1mm higher so each part could have the needed colors. I exported as an STL, the imported into Bambu Studio. It worked but the colors were of poor quality. Apparently just picking a surface does not control the color depth.
Absolutely. When I export something it’s ready to print. I just open it in Studio, paint it and hit “slice” and send it to the printer. If you have several objects that aren’t connected you can export them separately or you can arrange them exactly like you want them on the build plate and export them as one thing. If you do it that way though make sure they are all on the same level z wise.
About the coloring, you can actually set the color depth under the “strength” settings in Studio. It was an odd place for them to put it but it’s there.
It’s going to take some time to learn Onshape. I probably would learn faster by loading a model that’s parametric, where I could follow the build process and learn the essentials to learn my design interest quickly.
Unigraphics had a “sketcher” feature that most avoided using including me. I picked up their solid modeling features quickly. Solids are parametric so they are editable if needed, but not tied to constraints which can be frustrating to edit.
I believe I have found the problem! This probably was suggested before but, forgive me, I’m a thick headed newbie!
My models are come out without errors now. Working in the Objects window, the first part Imported should be the base model or main part, etc. Resize if needed (so far mine always do!) and locate on the PEI Plate in a likely non-tower interference location.
Then select the Base part before importing the other parts doing the same process each time. This keeps things in the proper order.
This seems to be the solution. I’ve reworked my other error-infected models and this solution fixed them first try!
