Thoughts and guide on 0.2mm aux hotend

Even though it’s not recommended to use any sort of filaments ( Bambu ones at least ) on the 0.2mm aux hotend, is there a guide to at least improve the print quality? So far I am getting mixed and inconsistent print quality, sometimes it’s really good, and sometimes it’s not.

Some additives in the filaments can cause clogging in small nozzles.

The 0.2mm nozzles are also causing higher back pressure due to the drag caused by the filament sticking to the inner surface of the nozzle. By default the flow rate on a direct drive extruder is already down by 90%. The Bowden extruder is having even more trouble pushing filament through a 0.2mm nozzle.

Only advice I can give here is lowering print speeds and/or volumetric flow.

I have printed with 0.2mm on Bowden, but it’s a PITA and some types of PLA just have a tendency for clogging in a 0.2mm nozzle.

Interesting, I didn’t have much trouble up to now printing regular PLA (e.g. BBL PLA basic) on the X1C and now with both nozzles on the X2D.
This 20mm long frog is black PLA basic on main and green PLA basic on aux nozzle. 0,1mm layer height on smooth PEI plate:

I watched the first layer and anticipated lacking extrusion control of the aux nozzle, but it did a perfect job.

Which problems do you have?
