I am trying to create a model where I need the tread that is on Bambulab oil tube but can’t get it right. Is there a specification of the thread to find somewhere?

How can I determine the thread specification from a 3D model?
In CAD, using the digital tape measure, for example. Bambu Studio also has a digital measuring tape. …or if you already have the actual tube open, you can, of course, measure it as well.
…or you can make it even easier and just use the threads from an existing model. Then you don’t have to measure it at all.
However, I think the much more important question is: What software do you want to use to model this? I think that’s the much more essential question. Then it would be possible to give much more targeted advice.
I use OpenSCAD.
That would be great but I am not sure how this could be done … some guidlines would be appreciated
I’m not familiar with that - I don’t use it; I use regular CAD - but I’m sure some users here will know enough about it to offer some tips.
If you’re using OpenSCAD, then my suggestion is rendered irrelevant, since you’ll have to script the 3D model from scratch yourself. That’s more about programming and scripting than modeling.
Kudos to you for diving right into such a complex topic.
I’m sorry, I can’t help you with that, but I’m sure someone else can. ![]()
What CAD software do you use to open a 3D model from makerworld.com to get the thread?
Problem solved.
I used ChatGPT and described my model and uploaded “Bambu A1 Lubricant Oil Nozzle-stl2” from MakerWorld and told ChatGPT to find & analyze the stl-file for the thread.
ChatGPT found the thread profile in stl-file and implemented it into my OpenSCAD code which I imported to Bambu Studio and printed … it worked just as a Swiss clock
