Tips for eliminating 'ghosting' on layers?

I am printing some phone stands on their sides and I have added some embossed and debossed text to personalize them. All the layers where there is text, there is noticable ‘ghosting’ above and below where the text is.

How can I eliminate this or significantly reduce the effect? I’m trying to get these to be as polished as possible and this effect looks pretty bad to me.

I am happy to slow the print down if that is what it takes - please let me know what options I have here.

Heres a pic with the text redacted but you can see the effect

  • Slow down the print
  • Change the per print speed
  • Look at the speed view in the preview tab to see where they occur (different colour banding based on speed)
  • Make sure your printer is on a desk that doesn’t aid vibrations from the printer.

On this print I had slowed the outer layer speed way down to 50 but that didn’t seem to help as much as I was hoping. Should I just slow everything down and see how that affects things?

Transitions between speeds can cause issues. Worth a try.

I suggest previewing the model using the speed view and sharing it here if it shows something of merit that the forum users spot.

this is a small section, it’s the same all the way up though. no meaningful variation in speed.

What happens if you rotate it 90° so the text is created along the y-axis (back to front)?

Currently it is on the x-axis (left to right).

As you are on a bed-slinger (A series), the direction of travel can sometimes have an affect.

yeah I have a standard A1. I’ll try rotating it as you suggest for the next one and see if there is any change.

For whatever reason rotating it 90° eliminated this almost entirely with no other changes. Thanks for the suggestion

Physics, the bed slingers (I have the A1 mini as well as my many P1S) behave differently depending on the direction of travel.
