Hi all,
I cleaned and lubricated (with the oil I bought from the Bambulab Store) the X-axis linear guide on my H2S.
I think I put too much oil, especially on the bottom of the guide (which is the most difficult part to lubricate), and now I see oil leaking from the slot, as indicated by the arrow in the photo.
I tried to clean and dry it as much as possible, and I also removed the fan from the part for better cleaning.
My question is: Has this happened to anyone else? Does the oil, left in that slot, damage the plastic over time? Could it dry out or weaken it to the point of breaking? Could it damage the belt?

I tend to use too much oil on my h2d. If it starts dripping on the belt i wipe off excess. Otherwise i don’t worry, never caused an issue. If oil drips into the base of the unit it drains out onto my table from a hole i haven’t located.
I usually use those little foam applicators, they look like q tips, to apply the oil to the rails. Soak the foam tip and rub it on the rail and in the grooves.

Can I ask how many hours your H2D has on it?
My H2S only has 100 hours on it, but I’ve already lubricated the X-axis guide because it seemed to be under-lubricated when I received it.

Great idea, I hadn’t thought of that… I used the tube exactly as shown in the video on the Bambulab wiki.

If your belt is wet, I would try to remove excess from the belt, and blot up anything that will drip. Small exposure like this probably won’t damage anything, just clean it up.
Yes, the belt is a little wet here where I put the indicator, and the oil also got onto the fan body (actually, I had already cleaned most of it here).
I also used some shop paper slightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

My brother in additive manufacturing, its a printer, not a Triumph to be leaking oil O.o how much are you using?!

What you say is true…I did it like in the BBL wiki video, except that for the upper part it’s easy to measure the quantity while for the lower part it’s much more difficult not to overdo it
but now I understand what to use and I just hope I haven’t caused (long term) damage to the belt or its locking catch
I mean, even if you completely fumble it and squirt oil all over the rail, just grab a cloth, wipe down any spilled, move the head a bit left and right to spread some, wipe again, done. No need for special applicators, makeup brushes yada yada, a piece of paper will do.

I treat it like an industrial machine in a shop. I clean it with paper towels and oil it until it drips.
People will go nutts and use gear floss and pick every piece of dust out of the rods. As long as they don’t see exposure to oxygen and have the chance to rust it should be fine. If you don’t see a decline in quality of prints it’s not an issue.
As a fellow old car enjoyer i worry more when the engine stops dripping oil. @NothingHam

That’s what I thought when I saw it; I thought, “I’ve seen that somewhere before.” I also have a daughter, but I’ve never thought of that. If need be, I might even peek into her makeup box!

Good that I saw this thread. I didn’t know BL changed lubricant recommendation from grease to oil. The last time I lubricated was many months ago using grease
