So im new to 3d printing. i have had my PS1 for almost a year. everything has been printing great with no real issues. but the past 3 weeks, my smaller prints are still printing fine, but my taller prints, the tool head starts slamming into the side or front of the machine. it usually dislodges the tool head cover, so it stops pretty fast. from the research i have done, i believe i have good tension on the xy belt. i have performed that a few times. i have cleaned the carbon rods and the z screws. i have ran calibration a few times, and even did the factory reset today. i havent tried to reprint yet. i have been printing on the .08 setting with a few custom changes. the prints up to the point this is happening look great. it doesnt appear like the is some slippage in the belts. but its happening around the 50%time of the prints. the last 5 failures its almost around the same point. any ideas what would make the printer do this?
Once the printer homes itself, it really shouldn’t ever exceed it’s safe limits for X and Y travel because the slicer won’t command movements outside that zone.
Just to be sure, make sure you’re using a totally default printer profile.
Failing that, the only way I can think of this happening is if a stepper is losing steps, so the actual position drifts over time until a big move takes it into the side.
