Tool head/gantry off after latest firmware update

One of my X1Cs is suffering a major skewing after the latest firmware update. The toolhead actually collides with the front left of the frame and then will angle back to the correct location as you move the Toolhead on the X axis. During a print, it will print that first line extremely crooked, almost starting off the build plate, then angling back. I printed one of those calibration squares and it is 81mm in the X and 79mm in the Y. Before the firmware update it was pretty much spot on. I tried doing a belt tension adjustment since I just went through all my printers this past weekend, but the tension seems fine.

I have also entered a support ticket, not sure how long it will take support to get to it though.

reverse to the previous firmware version that worked out for you, and don’t update your firmware until other users confirm it’s a reliable and stable version. At least, that’s what I’m doing, as i haven’t updated since January and my X1C works flawlessly still, while many who have updated each time now are accusing major dysfunctionalities and unexpected technical issues with their printers.

Well, downgrading the firmware resolved the issue. That is the first time I had to downgrade and I generally upgrade as soon as I see a release because I hate notifications… I guess I’ll downgrade my other printers as well.

Thanks

Glad I could be of help in this matter. :+1:

I think this is important to let support know, do you happen to taake any video or screenshots before reverting back to firmware, I am on the new firmware and havent noticed signifcant issues exxcept it does appear to be slighly squeweed on 1 side, i get a slight layer difference to one corner in a square obhject, but havent noticed any coliding - but now wondering its a similar cause…

All my betls are good. belt tracking is good\even, travel is square, so i dont understand how its skewing this print slighly, like its very very minor, less than 0.5mm but its noticable on a flat wall.

I took a video and added it to my ticket when I created it. I also added to the ticket that rolling back the firmware has fixed the issue.

I applied this update to 3 X1Cs, all three were affected by it, but 2 of them were minor. The third one, the one I started the ticket about was the worse. With mine, you could see it with the tool head travel next to the front of the case. If you manually moved the tool head in the X direction while Y was maxed out, you would see a space grow going to the right, and to the left it would end up touching the case by the end of the travel. Normal operation there is only a slight gap there, but there is a uniform gap the whole travel.

My standard procedure after a firmware update is to Restore Factory Settings, which includes calibration of the printer. I have never had a problem with any update after following these steps.

I always do a calibration after a firmware update. And this is the first time I have had issues with a firmware update. But the results here speak for themselves. Rolled back the firmware on all three of my X1Cs and the problem went away…
