I’m trying to paint the windows and lines on the chimney. When I apply color, it goes through the entire model increasing print time and lots of poop due to color changes. I’m trying to get only the top layer painted. I have tried using modifiers, paint by layer, etc. No luck. Now I’m new to 3D printing and using slicers, so who knows what I’m doing wrong!
If you only want the top layer a different color you can do that in the preview panel. Right click on the layer slider at the topmost layer. Change filament. Re slice.
You can also use the paint tools “vertical height range” mode to try to do the thing but will rarely give you exactly 1 layer of color in the final model.
Thanks for the help! when I try to change the filament type by right clicking on the slider, the option to change filament is not available. Not sure if you had a chance to see the model I’m practicing on, but as someone new to this, I don’t undertand why the color goes deeper into the model when I’m only painting the top layer. From what I’ve read, I guess it can’t be controlled?
